Improve your childs grades and listening through martial arts focus.

Improve your child's grades and listening through martial arts focus.  Now before you click away thinking to yourself that this is "just a bunch of chop suey marketing claims" please read on...  We'll show you how to make a significant difference in your child's education and health  ...and give them a huge advantage in school and life.
"Martial Arts has become a way of life now for Harrison as he has been a student for 2-1/2 years. He exudes confidence and has a tremendous willingness to learn. He was not athletic when he began, but has definitely built up both strength and coordination. I believe strongly that it is from training. The tenets of Taekwondo keep him on track."

~Stacey Ambrose, Mom, Scottsdale
More and more Phoenix and Scottsdale parents are enrolling their children in USA Martial Arts to improve their listening and character.

"The reason our program is so effective is that we use a consistent rewards system, have a culture of respect and discipline, plus we keep it exciting and fun.  One of our most powerful tools is that we have great instructors who lead by example and reinforce:

1. Respect for parents at home.  The highest belt is the "parent belt"
2. Belt, stripe, sticker and positive praise rewards systems for short term, mid term and ongoing incentive to improve.
3. Goal setting and accountability

"Tyler's teacher called me today to find out what we've been doing.  At first I was a bit worried and thought maybe he got into trouble.  To my surprise his teacher said the change she has seen is dramatic, he is listening better, helpful, focussed and courteous and HAD to find out what we were doing.  I told her about your program at USA Martial Arts. THANK YOU!!!"

Each of our instructors is trained in using various learning channels, from auditory, visual and kinesthetic.  That way each student is given opportunities to succeed and learn in their own way.  USA Martial Arts only uses caring, experienced instructors on the mat who are passionate about teaching martial arts and have a gift for working with kids.

"Here's How Your Child Can Have Higher Grades, Increased Self-Esteem, And 'Bully-Proof' Courage and Confidence..."

"Here's How Your Child Can Have Higher Grades, Increased Self-Esteem, And 'Bully-Proof' Courage and Confidence..."

Dear Parent,

After reading the statement above, you're probably saying to yourself, " Real-ly? C'mon, how can my kids get all that from martial arts classes at USA Martial Arts Phoenix?"

And you know what? I don't blame you for thinking that way.
Of course, I already know martial arts classes can do all these things for a child and more...

because after over 25 years in the martial arts I've witnessed, time and again, the positive effect our programs have on kids.

But I can still see how you might be skeptical, considering the fact that you've probably tried other activities (or maybe even other martial arts schools) and have been disappointed by the outcome.

So, I totally understand your skepticism. However...

"I can honestly say our programs have a positive effect on children
like nothing else you've seen..."

How can I make this claim?

Well, for starters I have twenty five years of experience and tons of positive feedback from parents, teachers, and counselors that prove our programs help children succeed in every aspect of their lives.

But, I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's back up a minute for the sake of an introduction.

Meet John Nottingham:

  • Master 6th Degree Multiple Black Belt
  • Licensed Certified Hall of Fame Teacher
  • Specialist at Building Self Esteem and Confidence

25 years experience teaching a full range of students, including those with autism and ADHD

My name is John Nottingham. I'm a Black Belt instructor, a certified international Master and have been teaching martial arts to kids for over 18 years right here in the greater Phoenix area.

In addition, my staff and I've taught and had audience with over 10,000 people from all walks of life - kids of all ages, executives, pro athletes, college students, police officers, educators, and stay-at-home moms.

"Thoughout all my years of teaching martial arts, I have observed that children receive more benefits from martial arts training than any other childhood activity..."

Why? For two very simple yet powerful reasons:

1. Because children are like sponges - both with learning new skills, and also with praise and encouragement... That's why we use positive reinforcement in our classes and with our stripe, positive praise and belt character-rewards system. And, kids soak it up, because they thrive on the recognition they receive and the accomplishments they achieve here at USA Martial Arts Phoenix.

2.Through subtly integrated lessons, our martial arts program instills positive values in your child...One that teaches the value of respect for others, self-confidence, and a positive mental attitude through all of life's challenges. And as a professional educator, I know how to impart these valuable lessons to kids in a way that's fun and age-appropriate. Plus, we make every single class fun...

Honestly, I'll tell you that our results have been nothing short of amazing. But you won't just want to take my word for it, so please...

Click here to see what the parents of my students have to say...

"Will You Let Your Child Become Our Next Next Success Story?"

I'd love to see your child gain greater confidence, increased focus, improved grades, and deeper respect - all the benefits our programs are proven to instill in children. And, I'm positive you do as well.

To get started, simply clicking on the special discount offer link below and a school representative will contact you to schedule a no-risk, no-obligation introductory class. It's the perfect way to find out how martial arts classes at USA Martial Arts Phoenix will improve your child's outlook and change their life for the better.

Is Martial Arts Just Another Kids Sport or Children's Activity?

You Might Be Surprised At The Answer...

USA Martial Arts Phoenix is far more than just another activity for after school.  Baseball, soccer, basketball and hockey are all great sports for kids, however USA Martial Arts Phoenix offers personal enrichment through a character developing ancient discipline.

USA Martial Arts... Not just another children's after-school activity.

USA Martial Arts Phoenix high energy training helps a child's focus by giving them a positive outlet while instilling discipline in an organized and proven educational structure.  It not only helps improve kids ability to learn but it builds on their sense of achievement.  Your child's pride will grow with each confidence building drill and lesson.  His self-confidence will soar as he learns to protect himself from bullies and intimidating situations.

At USA Martial Arts, we believe in building strength from the inside out.
Building on a solid foundation of self esteem, we then emphasize the lessons of integrity, being a person of honor and respect, putting courtesy into action in daily life.  These are just some of the time-tested benefits of traditional martial arts training.

At USA Martial Arts Phoenix, we teach it in a fun and rewarding way!
USA Martial Arts teaches a much needed lesson in todays society - good old fashioned stick-to-itness.  Our instructors are fit, healthy, positive and lead by example and teach goal setting and build motivation to instill an indomitable spirit.  That's why USA Martial Arts students are so well equipped to overcome obstacles in school and life.  Encouraging perseverance and a no-quit attitude are essential skills for success and happiness in life.

USA Martial Arts Students are Leaders Not Followers
USA Martial Arts Phoenix unique citizenship, character and leadership development programs helps children stand out in academic performance, social endeavors and even sports.  We're proud of the high number of our Black Belts who earn academic accolades and scholarships.  We make sure our students are equipped with the self esteem and inner strength to make positive, healthy choices - rather than having to be a compliant follower, doing whatever is necessary to fit in.

No Riding the Bench at USA Martial Arts

Self-defense is a leadership role.  Each student is important.  At USA Martial Arts we help students find their individual strengths and improve in every area.  Some students come to us out of shape, others are athletes seeking cross training to get the edge.  Many students come to us to make a change in their weight, health or discipline.  Others are seeking positive friendships and a way to learn a new and interesting skill.  Everyone is treated with respect and safety is our highest priority at all times.  We don't compare students to one another, only to themselves.  USA Martial Arts staff treats everyone as an individual and are always supportive, encouraging and positive.

Happier, Healthier, Safer Kids at USA Martial Arts Phoenix

Build your child's confidence, fitness and much more!
"New Phoenix Martial Arts Class Not Only Teaches Kids Self Defense ...But Arms Them With Confidence and The Tools They Need For Success In Life..."

Parents really want to know if you really can build your son's confidence with martial arts?  The answer is YES! and a whole lot more.

Read this story on how martial arts transformed a child's life forever...

From focusing, to goal setting, to self discipline, to self-respect — kids emerge from this
program changed for the better.
And their parents couldn't be happier.

To a Caring Parent,

Hi, my name is John Nottingham.

I’d like to tell you the story of a kid that I’ve seen walk through the doors of my Phoenix Martial Arts academy time and time again over the past 26 years.

Then, afterward, I’d like to tell you about how this program transformed his life. And the joy his parents got from seeing the incredible transformations.

(Please note: On this page I say “he” a lot when talking about kids – but that’s just to keep thing simple. Martial Arts is just as much for girls as it is for boys!)

So without further ado…

* [Story #1: "The ADD Kid"]

Johnny could never sit still in class. His teachers thought he was just a "wild kid". The other students would get distracted by him, and they'd have trouble focusing too.

He was smart - as smart as they come - but he just could't sit still for the life of him.
If only he could focus his energy into doing one thing at a time...

A Solution!
Even though Johnny is fictional – his story are based off of very real ones.  In fact, I can’t tell you how many times parents have come in and told me almost these exact stories.
But after a few weeks in USA Martial Arts, this is what happens...
Clear Focus - In Martial Arts, we have kids do one thing at a time. For younger kids, and kids with severe ADD, they may only do one thing for 30 seconds – but for that 30 seconds that’s all they focus on.

Then, the better and better they get at focusing, the longer we have them focus for. Eventually, kids might focus the entire session on just one exercise or activity.
And they never get bored or antsy.

Before you know it, they do this at home too. They focus on their homework...on their chores...on conversations with you...and anything else they put their mind to.

Most importantly, he'll have a ton of fun!

Karate Taekwondo Kung Fu & Jiu-Jitsu for Kids
Teaching self awareness, self-confidence and self discipline to kids through modern martial art systems based on 800-year old Asian traditions.
We take a peaceful approach to the ancient Japanese budo and Korean mudo and Chinese wutao traditions. We practice in a formal but non-comparative atmosphere. The dojo / dojang (training hall) is a safe and clean environment where cooperation and community are reinforced. Martial arts can be an excellent choice of study among so many alternatives in today’s world for children.
Our kids classes
Our Lil’ Tigers range in age from 4-6 and our Karate for Kids is specifically designed for ages 7-12 years old. We focus on physical fitness, self control, patience, self confidence, and just having fun. We do a lot of rolling, moving and educational games. Flexible, convenient class times are available Monday – Saturday with tuition starting at just $39 a month after registration.*
Program Benefits
Here are some of the benefits of our program for kids:
Assuring children receive a solid grounding in techniques, terminology and customs

Improve self discipline through training regimen, meeting personal goals and participation in dojo activities
Build self confidence through increasing mastery of techniques and improved conditioning
Self awareness through a physical understanding of movement with intention and heightened awareness of fellow students’ movements and needs
Earn and command respect through instructors’ examples and appropriate behavior expectations
Emphasize improved physical fitness and conditioning adapted to the unique needs of each student
Assure family and parental participation via our easy to follow approach
Encourage participants to set goals and seek self-improvement through a flexible and individually challenging awards system
Prepare students for a seamless blending into regular adult training
Awareness and understanding of proper etiquette used at the dojo to help bring these new attitudes and connections into their daily life.
To get started
Have your child try a class. It’s fun and it’s free. Just have him or her wear something like sweat pants or gym clothes to move freely. When you come, we’ll ask that you sign a small liability form. The classes are safe, but any physical activity may have some risk of injury. You are welcome to stay to watch the class and meet the other parents. Afterwards, if you’d like to join, you can get a gi (uniform) and sign up. There are no extra sign up fees or contracts. All dues are month-to-month. A gi runs between $30 and $80 depending on the size and make. We have uniforms available at the dojo and you can purchase one through us if you like.
Our teachers and program
Our instructors have many years experience working with children. We’ve developed a training program that encourages kids to set goals and seek self-improvement through a flexible and individually challenging awards system. The program also encourages family and parental participation.

Taekwondo, Karate & the Martial Arts will change your life

Taekwondo, Karate & the martial arts
will change your life!

When I began my martial arts training almost 30 years ago, I could have never imagined then the powerful impact Taekwondo (my first school called it Tang Soo Do & Kung Fu) would have on my life. The obvious benefits of martial arts training are learning self-defense skills that protect you and enhance physical fitness. But there’s so much more to it than that.

Taekwondo develops the whole person. Children and Adults find their martial arts training teaches them important life skills - a new sense of empowerment that extends past the physical maneuvers of self-defense. Our students develop the confidence and self-esteem it takes to face life head on, seeking new challenges and persevering when times get tough.

USA Martial Arts Karate Kids provides a place for you to develop your body and mind while instilling traditional moral values like integrity, respect and perseverance that’s refreshing and much needed today more than ever.

Whatever your reasons for considering Taekwondo for yourself or your child, you’ll find we have a variety of programs to meet your needs. You don’t have to be a certain type of person to be a successful and valued USA Martial Arts member. No matter what your skill level, our goal is to help you become the best you can be and to defend yourself and for others.

Respectfully,

The USA Martial Arts Paradise Valley Phoenix Team

Who is a Mighty Person?

Who is a mighty person?
One who can make friends of his enemies.

This is one of the early lessons I learned from my Martial Arts teaching mentor Shihan Dave Kovar.  It is fundamental to many of us classically trained martial artists whom had the benefit of an ethical honor code education.

As kid in martial arts my enemies weren’t always bad guys, bullies and strangers as would-be abductors.  My enemies, as with most of us, were much more insidious because they were disguised in a one might not expect.  The enemy of asthma took oxygen from my body and mind so I could not function or recover well.

Ask any fighter or MMA athlete whose stepped into a UFC Octagon what having handcuffs on your lungs from a lack of cardio conditioning will do.  Even the best pro athletes from Olympic Champs to NFL linebackers can be made into mice in high altitude training when you take their air.  When you are ‘gassed out’ it saps your will.

Another problem that made that enemy bigger is that it also leads to a greater issue of self doubt.  My poor self image was based on a belief of limitations and what I couldn’t do.  It is a filter from which you begin to form all beliefs and make decisions.  It can start with one thing and have a domino effect.

But this isn’t a sad story.  In fact, it’s the opposite.  Through my training in martial arts I learned to be mindful, set goals, work for improvement.  I learned to apply its principles and strategies to my life in ways I hadn’t anticipated. Asthma is just one example of a challenge to deal with.  It could have been stress, being overweight and undisciplined or a variety of other obstacles.

My struggle with asthma and health gave me the opportunity to learn things I might not have.  With the help of martial arts, I developed depth of character, determination and the ability to work patiently, methodically and in a disciplined way towards goals.  I learned to not give up, despite what I was feeling at an emotional level.  Working to overcome asthma also helped me get more in tune with my body.  Just like muscle is built through resistance, asthma and allergies provided me the resistance to build emotional and mental muscle.

It wasn’t easy and I sure had lots of setbacks, but those are good reference points for me in times of struggle.  It helped me learn to move forward on faith with optimism and seek out the help I needed to get to my goals.

On numerous occasions in the Army, in competition or other difficult endeavors, while I saw others give up, I knew how to dig down deep into myself and find new levels of strength through my martial arts indomitable spirit.  Asthma, while I would never wish it on anyone else, was a blessing in disguise.  Perhaps difficulties and struggles are someitmes an opportunity to bring out our inner strength and beauty.

You can follow my blog and find out about my adventures at the Shaolin Temple, Olympic Training Center, training with Masters in Korea, being in movies, sparring with legends like UFC Champ Jiu-jitsu Master Royce Gracie, and some unique and interesting lessons along the way.  Plus, I’ll share some secrets to realistic self-defense, personal security, and character and leadership development.  You might even get inspired too!  http://usamartialartshq.blogspot.com
