Mr. Don Gray is a 2nd Degree Black Belt in USA Martial Arts and hold simultaneous ranking in WTF (Olympic) Taekwondo. Mr. Gray began his martial arts training with Master Nottingham in 1993. He went on to become one of the most beloved Black Belts and Instructors, heading up a branch location as well as instructing at nearly every Academy.

Mr. Gray is also in demand for his private lessons and seminars. He is a specialist in military hand to hand combat, ground fighting and a consulting security specialist for Nottingham Sword & Shield Security.

Known for his loyalty, example and high level of motivation, Mr. Gray takes great pride in being one of Master Nottingham's original Arizona students and Black Belts. He is also a graduate and contributor of VIPER Practical Personal Protection (a reality based self defense and security course) training and has earned in-depth knowledge of criminology and the pathway to violence.

Mr. Gray is also a former winning State and National competitor and honorably served in the United States Army in Iraq as an Airborne soldier in a highly specialized unit. In 2007 he traveled to Japan for further education.

In 2008 Mr. Gray attended the All Army Tae Kwon Do team training camp. Mr. Gray, a veteran of the Iraq War, holds the distinction as being certified as a Level 2 Modern Army Combatives Program Instructor. Integrating his martial arts and military combatives experience, he developed the G.A.T.O.R. MMA Grappling program which incorporates Modern Army Combatives, Gracie Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai Kick Boxing, Submission Grappling, Wrestling and other progressive fighting concepts.

In July of 2008 Mr. Gray won the Fort Bragg Combatives Championships (Home of The Green Beret Special Forces), earning him the opportunity to compete in the All Army Combatives Championships.


During his time in the Army Mr. Gray held various leadership positions. In late 2009 Mr. Gray had fulfilled his contract with the Army and decided to pursue a higher education. Currently Mr. Gray attending college for business and marketing with plans to one day open his own USA Martial Arts location.

Phoenix Martial Arts School Offers Free Training To Military Veterans
USA Martial Arts Phoenix recognizes the extraordinary sacrifice made by the men, women and families of the US Armed Forces.  From Army, Navy, Air force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard and Army Reserves, each has selflessly pledged themselves to the defense and preservation of our constitution and freedom.
