The Arizona Leader in Teaching Children!

For more than 18 years, USA Martial Arts has led Arizona in teaching children, helping thousands of kids in the Phoenix area develop confidence, build self-esteem, and learn life skills that last forever.

Tiny Tigers (ages 4 - 6)
Offering a fun-filled and positive learning environment for pre-schoolers, kindergarteners, and first-graders, our Tiny Tigers Program enhances the development of basic good habits such as paying attention, following directions, cooperating with others, respect for self and others, self-control, and self-discipline. Children enrolled in our PV Childrens Martial Arts program will learn the following:
  • The Physical Expression of Attention and Respect
  • The Basic Techniques: Front Punch, Back Punch, and Front Kick
  • Side Block, Down Block, Rising Block—Blocks and Counters
  • Stretching Drills
  • Focusing Drills—Focus Punch and Focus Kick
  • Balancing Drills—Three Count Front Kick
  • Form Kamsah, Meaning “Appreciation”
  • Stranger Danger/Awareness
  • Memorization of the Student Creed
While children will of course be learning solid Tae Kwon Do basics, they will also be enhancing their motor skills and coordination—plus, more importantly, they will be learning essential “life skills” like respect, discipline and confidence.

USA Martial Arts Belt Progression
Our belt progression system for children was developed specifically to keep them motivated and reward them for positive behavior—both inside and outside of the Tae Kwon Do school.

A full description of the belt progression system for each age group can be found in our Student Manuals, which you can obtain at the Paradise Valley USA Martial Arts.

Belt Stripes
In addition to earning belts, children are also awarded stripes, as a way to build their self-esteem and reward a positive attitude, at home or at school.

Both Tiny Tigers and Juniors can be awarded the following stripes:
  • Red Stripe, the Class Attitude Stripe. The instructor will give a student this stripe when they show great attitude in class or significant improvement in a certain skill.
  • Blue Stripe, the Home Stripe. This stripe is given when a student turns in a note from home or school describing something positive they have done to show great attitude (i.e., saying “Yes Sir/Ma’am,” completing chores without being asked, completing a school assignment, being nice to little brother/sister, etc.) The note will be read in front of class and they will receive a stripe in front of their peers.

In our Juniors Program, additional stripes are available, such as a White Stripe for academic achievement and Black Stripes for reaching different Tae Kwon Do curriculum goals.

A full description of the stripe system for each age group can be found in our Student Manuals.

Karate for Kids Juniors Program (ages 7 - 12)
Combining physical exercise, motor skill development, Tae Kwon Do curriculum, and life skills training, the emphasis of our Karate for Kids Juniors Program is to establish discipline through the two fundamental Martial Arts training principles of attention and respect. Both attention (standing perfectly upright and still while listening to the instructor) and respect (bowing to one another and the instructors) are developed in a child through mental focus and physiology.

USA Martial Arts Tae Kwon Do builds confidence and character by providing the child with control over his or her body and an ability to stand up to negative peer pressure and other intimidating situations.

The movements involved in the USA Martial Arts System develop coordination and increases strength and flexibility, which is very important during the growth years. Our Martial Arts XMA [Extreme Martial Arts] training, the display of Martial Arts moves to music, also develops concentration and timing.
The awarding of the higher levels of Tae Kwon Do belts gives your child a sense of achievement and accomplishment. The importance of this is that it develops the principle of goal setting. We work on your child's immediate, short term, and long term goals, which your child will be able to apply to other areas in life and carry with him or her into the future.

USA Martial Arts Tae Kwon Do also involves free-style competition (Sport Tae Kwon Do - Freestyle & Olympic). This helps develop a sense of sportsmanship in a controlled and competitive environment.
The foundation of USA Martial Arts Tae Kwon Do is its self-defense value. We are very careful to teach children that Tae Kwon Do is not to be used outside the Tae Kwon Do school in any manner other than in true self-defense. The result is a self-confident child, who does not need to bully or show-off to other children.

Adaptive Martial Arts
Here at USA Martial Arts Paradise Valley Phoenix, we have also developed a unique program designed specifically for children with special needs. This program "adapts" the standard Martial Arts techniques and teaching strategies to best suit the specific needs of each student. The class is structured for children who have Autism Spectrum Disorders or other Developmental or Intellectual Disabilities.

Martial Arts Weapons Program
Traditionally, the Korean Art of Tae Kwon Do does not typically implement the use of Martial Arts weapons. However, USA Martial Arts teaches multiple arts and incorporates various weapons. Therefore, students have the opportunity to expand their Martial Arts experience beyond the standard Tae Kwon Do or Karate curriculum.
